What is eSports?

“eSports (also known as electronic sports, esports, e-sports, competitive (video) gaming, professional (video) gaming, or pro gaming) is a form of competition that is facilitated by electronic systems, particularly video games; the input of players and teams as well as the output of the eSports system are mediated by human-computer interfaces.[1] Most commonly, eSports take the form of organized, multiplayer video game competitions, particularly between (but not limited to) professional players. The most common video game genres associated with eSports are real-time strategy, fighting, first-person shooter (FPS), and multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA). Tournaments such as The International, the League of Legends World Championship, the Battle.net World Championship Series, the Evolution Championship Series, the Intel Extreme Masters, and the Smite World Championship provide both live broadcasts of the competition, and prize money and salaries to competitors.

Although organized online and offline competitions have long been a part of video game culture, participation and spectatorship of such events have seen a large surge in popularity from the late 2000s and early 2010s. While competitions around 2000 were largely between amateurs, the proliferation of professional competitions and growing viewership now supports a significant number of professional players and teams,[2] and many video game developers now build features into their games designed to facilitate such competition.” Source: Wikipedia

The Agenda

Simply put, we want to ensure every eSports player is given as much of an opportunity as they possibly can be to create a career for themselves in eSports. The team has a wealth of over 30 combined years of gaming experience and 15 years in eSports. Using their wealth of knowledge they guide and assist teams into developing their own brand and assisting in a range of services such as Consulting, Infrastructure, Coaching and Management. Our brand at only 3 months old had 2 affiliated teams competing in the Digital Gaming League championships for League of Legends in 2016. Not only do we focus on eSports, we also have an interest in contributing back to society by spreading the advantages of education through information technology via our Community Outreach programs. By being a non-profit company, we ensure that every cent that spent gets spent in line with our mission statement, giving back to the eSports society as well as growing the community in a holistic manner.

Our Journey

On July 4th 2016 a journey began when 5 passionate and dedicated gamers looked at the environment around them, and decided they needed to do more to help grow eSports in South Africa. It was on that day that Vector eSports was founded. Vector, which in science has two meanings, ties in close with the underlying goal we wanted to achieve. To spread knowledge and grow awareness of eSports as effectively as possible, and to gather a team of passionate, skilled individuals, who will have as much a positive impact on the industry as we can, with aim to benefit that industry in its whole. The model we have designed allows for clans, teams and players in the eSports industry, to take hold of their future and drive it in the right direction. Allowing them to grow their own brand and become self sufficient.

Be the change and #SupportSAeSports

Of course what we do takes time, effort, resources and well, money. As we do not sell any products, we are funded through donations and sponsorships. Our return on investment is a growing eSports community, and an increase in the quality of gamers around the country. If you are feeling generous, please be so kind as to contribute to our cause via the two options below. We don’t need much! Just enough to keep the servers up, every cent counts!

All monies donated are non-refundable. All monies go towards infrastructure costs for the organisation.
No monies go towards any individuals expenses or their incomes. You are also welcome to donate directly to the funding of our public voice server below:

Our Mission

We as Vector eSports strive to provide an environment where eSports clans, teams and players can learn and grow to their full potential, as well as grow the community in South Africa. Our services to assist those in meeting their full potential include Consulting, Coaching, Support, Management and Sponsorship Arrangement for clans, teams and individual players. In order to grow the community in South Africa, we are committed to being involved in community awareness and outreach programs to allow our society to become aware and be given the chance to get involved in the educational benefits of gaming and the communities it includes. In line with growing our South African community and the quality of eSports, Vector eSports aims to initiate and execute international initiatives that see the quality of eSports in South Africa being raised so we may compete proficiently at an international level.

Experience: I started playing multiplayer games in 2000 with the Serious Sam franchise. Ah, those were the Days. Then in 2004 when CS Source was released, I basically lived in our local internet cafe playing games all day long. I used to save all my money during the school semester to be able to afford to play games at the Internet Café during the holidays. I started playing games competitively in 2015. In 2016 my team, Asg3r competed in the DGL, playing League of Legends competitively.
